Vaibhav, the scope of the examples can be explored further in any direction, I took the most basic ones and wrt the jobs example, everything else is same for all the three offers

I don't think there is anyway to objectively settle this :) My reason was only that after Pele's influence on Brazilian football is still significant and so is Bradman's influence on cricket. I am sure Dhyan Chand's skills are of as high a level. But hockey is a failed game and Dhyan Chand is not even known to an average Indian. In fact, more Indians probably know of Pele and Bradman than Dhyan Chand. So he does not make my list. Maybe you can make your list and honor him :)) I always like such lists and discussions. We learn so much about great champions.

Vaibhav, there was space for only five. There is hardly anything to separate Kapil and Gavaskar. I just picked Gavaskar as he was the first (and also the guts factor as a batsman without helmet facing up to those west Indians). I also considered Dhyan Chand; but he was obviously a failed star. Hockey has gone down in public view and he died in poverty. This is not to say his hockey skills are of the highest order; but a key criteria for me was attracting money, audience, and newspaper columns. As for Lee-Hesh, I was thinking of Ramanathan Krishnan and Vijay Amritraj; the former was seeded 4 in Wimbledon and also reached the semis, Vijay reached the quarters of US open and Wimbledon. It is a line-call. But I thought the step forward to championship material was more important. Milkha Singh and Kunjarani Devi lost out on stardom count. Ramesh could not beat Vijay and his dad, Ramanathan, anyway. I never heard of Gama pehelwaan before :)

actually, its nothing to do with success or failure but about 'trying to achieve'...now i am not at all concerned about what others say, i set my own parameters for my satisfaction, but at least now i have set my parameters...i had stopped setting those in the last 9 years...
